Cape Farm Alliance

The Cape Farm Alliance, a group of citizens representing growers, horse farms and micro-farms in the Cape Elizabeth area, has grown steadily over the past several years in both membership and influence. Their mission statement reads: “It is the mission of the Cape Farm Alliance to bring community members together to seek ways to ensure the viability and sustainability of Cape Elizabeth’s agricultural assets, so that all citizens can enjoy the open space, fresh local products and rural scenery.”

Ram Island Farm and The Sprague Corporation work closely with the Alliance on many issues of common concern. John Greene, the Farm manager, serves on the Tax and Ordinance Committee. This group drafted ordinance changes that benefit agricultural landowners including The Sprague Corporation. You can visit them at www.capefarmalliance.org.

The Alliance puts out a monthly newsletter highlighting local farms, produce and events. They post hearings and meetings pertinent to local farmers and growers and provide a number of educational forums and materials.
